UFlex launches FSSAI compliant single pellet solution tailored for food packaging

UFlex, India’s leading flexible packaging company, has launched an innovative FSSAI-approved single-pellet resin designed for food and beverage packaging using recycled PET. This high-purity pellet combines recycled and virgin PET, ensuring excellent clarity, strength, and low acetaldehyde levels. It seamlessly integrates into existing PET production lines without requiring equipment upgrades.

The solution aligns with the latest FSSAI regulations under India’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, which mandates 30% recycled content in Category-1 rigid plastic packaging like PET bottles by FY26. It meets both Indian and global safety norms, including USFDA certification, ensuring food-grade safety through a validated decontamination process.

Mr. Ashish Saxena, Joint President – Packaging Films at UFlex, highlighted this development as a major step in driving sustainability and compliance. The company’s ?317 crore investment in two new recycling plants in Noida further reinforces its commitment to responsible production.

UFlex is the only Indian company with USFDA approval to recycle rPET, rPE, and rPP for food packaging. With a recycling capacity of over 72,000 MTPA—set to grow by nearly 40,000 MTPA—it has already processed more than 5 billion PET bottles and 8,200 MT of flexible waste in FY25.
